Why We Are a Cash-Based Practice

One of the most common questions I receive is:

“Will my insurance cover this?”

The short answer is:
We are a cash-based practice and do not bill insurance.

As I am not a licensed medical provider (e.g., MD or ND), I am unable to bill insurance directly or provide a superbill for reimbursement. My services are invoiced just like any other professional wellness service.

That said, you are welcome to submit your invoice independently to your insurance provider to explore potential reimbursement. Some clients have successfully used HSA or FSA funds, depending on their specific plan.

Why Insurance Is Not Involved

Insurance billing requires diagnosis codes (ICD-9/10), which are tied to the diagnosis and treatment of disease under conventional medical guidelines.

Because I do not diagnose or treat disease — and my work focuses on functional wellness, root-cause support, and metabolic resilience — insurance billing falls outside my scope of practice.

You will receive a detailed invoice for services rendered. In many cases, clients are able to:

  • Use HSA or FSA funds

  • Submit for out-of-pocket reimbursement

  • Deduct certain healthcare expenses if itemizing taxes (please consult your tax professional)

We also offer flexible payment plans and pay-later options through our client portal to make care more accessible.

Why This Model Enhances Care

There is an important philosophical reason for remaining a cash-based practice.

Insurance-based care is often structured around:

  • Diagnosis-driven treatment

  • Limited appointment times

  • Rationed services

  • Restricted coverage for prevention, nutrition, and advanced functional testing

My work is centered on prevention, education, lifestyle foundations, and personalized strategy and ongoing coaching so help you meet your goals — areas that are rarely covered adequately by insurance.

By remaining independent of insurance contracts, I am able to spend meaningful time with you, the client, while focusing on root causes rather than symptom management. I can recommend labs or services based on clinical reasoning — not coverage rules. I can create truly individualized care plans for you to follow and walk alongside you to adjust as needed.

This model allows me to prioritize your transformation rather than navigating administrative limitations.

An Investment in Long-Term Health

Your health is one of your most valuable assets.

If you are simply looking for the lowest-cost option, this may not be the right fit — and that is okay.

But if you are ready to invest in long-term resilience, deeper answers, and a sustainable path forward, I would be honored to walk alongside you.
